Debate all sides
Take a view you hold dearly. Write out why it is important to you.
Imagine that sitting across the room is someone who holds an opposing view. They are ready to change their minds if your explanation is convincing enough. Try explaining to them your point of view.
Once you are done, do this exercise again.
This time, try and make the case against your position. Poke the holes in your argument. Write it out. Spotlight the areas where the opposing view is better than yours.
Once you are done, do this exercise again.
Choose a position that does not align with any of the positions you've debated. It's neither for nor against. It's the third option. Write out why that may be the best option available.

It helps you see life clearly - without the noise, and often without deceiving yourself.
