Discrepancy audit
We all have different opinions on everything. I haven’t seen a world where everyone agrees on everything - or even a majority of things.
That’s a feature of the world we live in, not a bug.
So, what do you do when you find a point of view you don’t agree with?
Auditing discrepancies whenever you find one is one of the best ways to show why you disagree with a point of view.
Here is how to do this.
Write out clearly, and share what your point of view is. Explain why you are holding on to this point of view. Be honest with yourself about what may make you change your view.
Then, describe their point of view as best as you can. Explain why you disagree with it.
Finally, show us what’s missing in that point of view. Show us the discrepancy.
“I don’t agree with you, and that’s final” isn’t the best way to show divergence. Instead, make it clear and let us see where things are yet to add up.
We all have that responsibility - within reason.
