How not to be disappointed
The source of most disappointment is that we try to make stable things that are by nature unstable.
We try to make things happen even when those things don’t agree with our desires. And that’s the beginning of suffering. Not loving what is as if you planned it.
Have you ever perceived, seen, or experienced anything that is not changing, including yourself?
Nothing is consistent in the realm of feeling and thought.
I’m learning how to be disappointed by recognizing what’s stable and consistent - my ability to observe without attacking my identity to an experience.
I can be aware of the traffic in my mind, without attaching my identity to them.
When this is mastered, it leads to the true understanding of freedom.
A state where you are free of bondage and a sense of freedom.
In this state, I am:
Free of Union and separation
Free of desire and disinterest.
Free of being labeled good or bad.
Free of the sense of sadness or gladness.
That way, I’m free of both satisfaction and disappointment.
