Close the loop
One of the skills I built as a teenager, later downplayed, and had to rebuild was the art of closing the loop.
Closing the loop can mean many things. Following up. Ensuring that when you open a circle with someone, you see to it that it's closed before you move on.
When you start a conversation, you see it through. Leave no end loose.
When you commit to something, you bring it to a logical conclusion. Same with when you start something. Even if that 'logical conclusion' is that you can no longer commit to this thing.
I read somewhere that most people don't follow up, and only those who do set themselves apart from the rest.
Do yourself a favour and master how and when to close the loop. It will aid your growth as a person and professional.
