Sharing experiences not advice
I have no advice to give. I only have experiences to share. Some are mine. Some are others’.
Here is a note I shared with myself a while ago: When you speak with someone who has more experience in what you want to accomplish, don’t ask them to tell you what you should do next.
Rather, ask questions that lead them to share their reflections, to share the lessons they learned, and the mistakes they made. Nudge them to tell you stories. Their life is full of them.
Pry into how they think, not just the decisions that came from those thoughts. How they might rethink what made them successful. And the principles that governed their thinking.
Because your understanding of any story is subjective, you’ll discern the relevant advice applicable to your situation.
