Spare me the research
When a conversation starts with 'the research says...', it calls for caution.
What research?
When was it conducted?
How many times has it been replicated?
Did you read the research itself or you are recalling the headline from the news?
If you have no clue about these, your debate isn't worth its salt.
A caveat: this is applicable when the conversation is a superficial appeal to authority/research. If they understand the research well enough, then by all means, they can spare us the details.
