Simple rules rule
Most simple rules make it easier for us to stick to them. We set them once and refine them so they keep being useful.
‘I won’t lie to the people I love’. Or ‘I won’t tell lies’ are simple rules.
Many simple rules are generous in the short-time and selfish in the long term.
An ‘I only do win-win deals’ rule is generous in the short term. In the long term, it puts you in position where you only do deals that give you peace of mind. You also become someone others can trust with these kinds of things.
An ‘I won’t deceive anyone’ rule is generous to others in the short term. In the long term, it saves you from having to remember what you said and what the truth was.
Simple rules matter. They rule.
