Thinking spot
Like with meditation and creating something new, it is easy to obsess over making the environment perfect for thinking to happen.
Stories of Bill's think week, and Erik's thinking/solitude time may reinforce this.
It can be tempting to make yourself believe that everything must be right for you to think right. You must find the perfect spot. And you must get the things you’ve been told will help you think more clearly.
That you must set the ambience. Get a cabin in the woods. Or sit in a beach house. With a beautiful view of the city from your terrace. Playing the perfect music on repeat. And your favourite books and podcasts available in the room. And your magical thinking hat.
Whatever you believe must be available before you can ‘think well’ also becomes a trap when it is absent.
Most times, all you need is you; your mind, your brain, your consciousness. They are always with you. You can learn to think anywhere and at any time.
Having the desirous ambience is great. As long as its absence doesn’t make you a prisoner to your desires.
