Cheap is expensive
We often think of this mostly in terms of the things we buy.
We know that it is better to buy a really good footwear - even when it's pricey - than a cheap and substandard one. The maths is simple. You'll need to replace the substandard one every six months, while the other might have lasted longer.
Another example is your chair, bed or whatever you use daily. Get a cheap bed and you pay extra for it in body pains, hospital visits, and therapy. The marginal cost you 'save' isn't worth the full cost you pay.
The same can be said of the decisions we make.
Each cheap decision is a poor and expensive decision - regardless of the outcome.
Not stopping at the red light because you are in a hurry is a cheap decision.
Eating junk food is expensive, regardless of what you paid at the counter.
Telling a lie is an easy way out of a mess, but the price you pay on lost trust is expensive.
Avoiding taxes and insurance is cheap, until the inevitable happens. It always happens.
Replacing genuine connections with emojis is cheap. Avoiding difficult conversations for an illusion of peace is cheap. Until the price you pay outways whatever you bargained for.
Each decision compounds. You either reap the dividends, or pay the debt over time.
