Living off-grind
One of the changes I observed in myself over the past year is that when talking to new people, or when introducing myself, I have nothing to pitch.
No pitch about joy or human flourishing. Or the documentary one of my dearest humans is producing. Or the microgrants for AI safety. Or the work of our social venture. Or something I’m willing to invest in.
Nada. Zilch.
Instead, I just immerse myself in the conversation.
It’s a beautiful experience. Just having a conversation without the intent to ‘sell’ anything.
I’m satisfied with just being there, listening intentionally and with curiosity, and exploring their stories and experiences along with them.
Living off-grind - not just off-grid - is an experience everyone can give themselves.
Take out one month, and decide not to talk about what you do in any new conversation. Don’t pitch. Don’t sell. Just have one genuine conversation at a time with another person you have just met.
If they are curious about what you offer, they’ll find it without you nudging them too. And if they don’t, it’s still all good.
You’ve blessed yourself and the other with genuine attention and curiosity.
