Build only surface-level relationships. Tell nobody you cherish them.
Or do the opposite. Tell people you cherish your relationship with them. But spend so little time with those you tell. They should know your heart is in the right place. Building relationships is a lot of work. Who has time for that? How will you add that to the heap of things you still have to do?
Live for you. Life is too short to be watching out for someone else. Take the mantra 'nobody is coming to save you' to another level. Tell people you won't come to save them.
Pay no attention to those who call for you to add or subtract from your life. It's perfect the way it is. Take it a step further. Let the things you own make up your identity. How would people pay attention if you don't flaunt your identity at them? Show them you have arrived.
Try to win all the games you play at all costs. Why play if not to win? No scorecard is better than an outer scorecard. Judge yourself only by the standards set by others. It will be fun when they flood you with praise.
Always do work you aren't proud of. You don't have to learn anything new or find meaning through whatever you do. Remember, contentment is for fools. Never be satisfied with anything in your life. Compare yourself with others, especially people you only know online.
Don't be kind. It takes a lot of energy to be. Instead, be nice to yourself and other people. People love a nice 'guy/gal'. There is no absolute truth, so don't bother speaking any truth.
Make commitments you don't intend to keep. Borrow money you don't intend to pay back. Almost nothing else makes people think about you every day. You'd rather not be out of their minds. Take up goodwill that you've not earned. Deplete reserves you've not built well. You have an abundance of energy; use it on everything. Pay attention to everything. Prioritise everything. Sleep less. You'll sleep when you are dead. Spend a lot more than you earn. Those old sayings about sleep and energy conservation are for generations before you. You are better than them.
Let no one deceive you about what they call the beauty of nature. That nonsense is for die-hard art lovers who see things that don't exist. See paintings as what it is - random ugly colours on a canvas. See poetry as a bunch of misaligned words. Maths is hard and is just for counting money.
Censor yourself more. Express your ideas less. You don't want to experience rejection. They say reality is kinder than the stories we tell about it. So, expect everything to go well. There is no point in being flexible. Go big or go...wherever. When things go wrong, tell yourself the worst stories about it. Make those stories hurt you. Be the victim in them. Tell it to yourself and whoever cares to listen over and over and again. Nothing else is true but this.
Hold on tightly to whatever you think should be. There is no point seeing the world as it is, when you can see it as you imagine. Surround yourself with people who have toxic ways of seeing the world. It will help you build a thicker skin and a colder heart. You'll need those as you navigate the world.
You only live once. It doesn't matter if it's for twenty-five years or a hundred. Do whatever feels good - even if your mind, spirit, and body reject it. You are in control. You deserve to be happy always. Do only things that give you pleasure. Do them until you surpass any existing record in history. Alcohol? Sex? Food? You name it. The heart wants what the heart wants. Plus, you can't have too much of it. And you won't know your true limit until you surpass the previous limit. Avoid suffering at any cost. Do only easy things. Hard things are uncomfortable. You only want to feel pleasure.
Build walls around yourself. Lots of them. Who needs bridges when you can be completely independent of others? You don't need windows too. To woander or reflect is to waste time. Fill up every minute you have with something. Don't leave room for serendipity. Go to extremes. F** balance.
No one is deserving of your forgiveness. Not even you. Keep a journal of wrongdoing and update it daily. The world is full of people out there to take advantage of you; people who are trying to get you. Update your journal with everything they do. Yes, include how they stared at you yesterday, and what they should have done but didn't do. Don't stop there, read the journal from end to end every year so you don't forget anything.
Remember everything you have and everything you are each time you talk. If you feel the person you are speaking with doesn't regard that enough, remind them every ten minutes. And say more than you need to. You got here by yourself. You are self-made. There is nothing and no one to be grateful for. Not those that supported you one way or the other. Not your parents and ancestors who traveled thousands of miles to give their descendants a fighting chance. Not those who believed in you. And certainly, not those that collaborated with you. If they didn't play the roles they played, someone else would have. Nature abhors a vacuum.
One more thing. Accept all counsel. Including this one.1
